Hi, we tried to rush it out. This might not be the most appropriate suggested solutions. Feel free to comment and discuss. Let me know if I make mistakes. Thanks!

Also, we might not respond too fast as we will be trying to do the paper 2 for h2 math later too.

ERRATA:

4(ii) I made a silly mistake substituting the equations back in. You should get (4, 18) and (8,6) as the answers.

Many thanks to those who point out my mistakes.

  1. Hi for 9(ii), why is P(X>/4) not equal to =1-P(X</4) since 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 less than or equal to 4, there will still be 4 lacks having at most two cakes containing fruit?

    1. Hi
Oh man, that’s bad. Sorry bout that. Try keying in? 🙂 rmb to square root your variance!!

  2. Hahaha was waiting for this since ystd to practice the stats question! Im not your student but i really appreciate the effort!! Didnt do so well for p1 ystd so really counting on p2 now! Thanks again for the answers 🙂

    1. Hi
No worries. Not so sure if I’m right either. Rushed it this morning haha all the best for p2 later! 🙂 Yes you still have 100 marks!! A lot of students tends to over look the papers have equal weightage haha all the best!

  3. @Anon: 12(ii) is right – 64 is already the variance dont need to square that

    shouldnt 11(v) be (37/300)(36/299)?

  4. Thanks soo much for the answers! 🙂 Can i have your opinion on the marks range for A and B for this paper?

  5. Hello! For question 4, when you substitute the second equation in, it becomes 5x^2+2y^2+2xy , but the original equation is 5x^2+y^2-2xy. Is it an error or did I miss out something as my answer differs

  6. qn 4ii, why when you substitute in the equation, it became + 2(x)(30-3x)? IF following the ans in part i should it be -2x(30-3x)? Additionally, what do you think will be the mark range for A?:) tks for providing soln!

  7. Hi I disagree with 11 (v). I don’t agree that binomial should be used as the probability is not constant? Instead I used 37/300 x 36/299

  8. hi! may i know if for the question 1 and 3ii, is it acceptable if i wrote the answer in full decimal?

    1. Hi,
They want exact answers, even the 9dp full string of digits aren’t exact. :/
Don’t worry, you still get credit for the working!

  9. Made some really stupid mistakes on my part. Btw I asked my teacher and she said bell curve for H1 math for A is 70 and above. Hope this is true!

  10. Hi:D For question 1, your suggested answer is 5-square-root 5 over 2. My answer was
5/2 – 1/2( square-root 5). Both result in the same answer. Would they penalize if the answer is not as suggested?
    Thanks:D
