IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PRIVATE CANDIDATES
The registration for ‘A’ and ‘O’ Level exams as a private candidate usually opens around mid-April (Please check SEAB website) and closes before mid-May. If you are registering for a Science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Combined Sciences), at the time of registration, you will be asked whether you have done any science practical training in any school, centre, or institute. Science practical training in Singapore Learner qualifies as practical training for the purpose of registration for Science subjects for the ‘A’ and ‘O’ level exams.
Thus if you are considering Singapore Learner as your science practical training provider, you must register with us and complete at least 4 basic practical sessions for each subject for us to certify that you have attended science practical training. Please note students usually do about 10 practical sessions per subject to be competent in practicals.

For training purposes, Pure and Combined Science students attend the same practical sessions as the syllabus for practicals is the same for both. The only difference between the two kinds of practicals is there are no Planning questions for Combined Science students. And like in MOE schools, each practical training session covers only 1 subject.

HOW TO BOOK A LAB SESSION:
(1) Decide which Program or Lab sessions you need or most suitable for, by visiting the webpages of the practical subjects you are interested in (if you can’t find the labs you want, Whatsapp us at 88765498).
(2) Whatsapp or Message our staff at 88765498 with your Name, Private or School Candidate, A or O level, Subject or Lab Name (e.g Lab PP2), Date and Time of Lab. (Our staff will then guide you on how to register and make payment. If you are not sure about the lab sessions, just state your Name and the Subjects and we will get back to you)
(3) Register Online by clicking below:
(4) Pay Registration fee of $30 via Paynow or funds transfer.
(5) Make the required payment for each lab session at least 5 days before the date of the lab session. (You may also pay for several sessions at one go to ensure that you will have a place in future slots)

IMPORTANT : The full fee must be paid at least 5 days before the practical session to confirm your attendance as a lot of preparation is needed for practicals coupled with very limited class size. PLEASE NOTE IF YOU ARE ABSENT FOR A LAB SESSION, A PENALTY* OF $50 MUST BE PAID TO POSTPONE THIS LAB TO ANOTHER SESSION, AND ONLY 1 POSTPONEMENT IS ALLOWED FOR EACH LAB, ELSE THE LAB IS CONSIDERED COMPLETED AND PAID FOR, AND NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN. THE FEE FOR THE MISSED LAB CANNOT BE USED FOR ANOTHER LAB.

Integrated Programme Math and Sci EOY Marking and Revision service
This is an announcement for current parents and students who are attending the Integrated Programme specialization Maths and Science classes at Singapore Learner. With effect from today, there will be a FREE marking and revision service granted to all students for their EOY past year revision papers issued by their individual schools. It has come to my attention that for quite a few students, the work they have done for these revision papers are unmarked or have not been explained to them properly. I would like to extend my help by marking and going through their papers with them. If you wish to use this service, do assist your child in scanning their papers and sending it to me via PDF format using camscanner and I will handle the rest.
This also serves as a call to action for all current parents of students attending IP schools. If you are looking for intensive revision for the EOY exams, and interested in having a tutor who will go the extra mile in securing your child’s grades, do not hesitate to contact us and arrange for an appointment. Additional timeslots for revision can be arranged at the tutor’s discretion, so do not think its too late to improve.

Mr Pang: Mr Pang graduated with a B.Eng(Honors) from NUS, and has been coaching students in O-level/IP and A-level Mathematics and Science for more than 5 years. An alumnus of RVHS(IP) and an experienced tutor in IP/A-level education, Mr Pang is a results oriented tutor whose students do very well in exams through efficient learning methods and exam preparation skills. Mr Pang employs a variety of teaching methods to cater to every type of learner, as well as teaching them the skill of self diagnostics, giving them the ability to constantly spot and rectify their own errors. He takes pride in inspiring his students to become confident learners and critical thinkers. He is in the midst of pursuing and completing his master of education in curriculum and teaching from NIE.
Mr Ilyas: An NIE-trained Teacher, Mr Ilyas has been coaching students in O-Level & IP Chemistry, Physics and Math for more than 12 years. An alumnus of Raffles Institution, Mr Ilyas holds a a Bachelor of Science degree from the NUS as well as a Master of Education (Curriculum & Teaching) degree from the National Institute of Education. Mr Ilyas’s thinking and metacognitive approaches to problem solving has helped many students of varying abilities to excel in Math and the Sciences. He has coached students from many different schools and streams, including IP, SAP, and IB.

IB DIPLOMA INTERNAL ASSESSMENT FOR SCIENCE
The Internal Assessment (IA) is a compulsory task for IB students in the Diploma Programme (DP). It is weighted to about 20% of the overall marks for a Science subject.
The marking criteria of the Internal Assessment are based on the Evaluation Criteria, which consists of different parts to be evaluated, namely: Personal engagement (i.e. motivation), research, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation, presentation.
For Science subjects, the IA project of a student is normally an experiment to determine the value of a particular variable, or to investigate the relationship between two or more variables.

Chemistry Practical
You may need science practical lessons if you are a private candidate who needs a science lab and apparatus as well as practical coaching, or you are a school candidate who needs more practical training to get top grades.
School candidates who need more FULL PRACTICAL PRACTICE are also welcome, as you seldom get to complete a full practical in school, mainly due to lack of curriculum time.
