Every End of Year, some Integrated Programme students who are struggling will be given an option by the school to either retain, or drop to the O-level stream. For students who have dropped to the O-level stream, these classes are specifically crafted to train you to become a top student in the O-levels and regain your confidence.

IP schools who have a dual track system for O-levels and IP will recommend their struggling students to drop to the OP stream. For schools that are pure IP, there will be a talk given by school management and the student will be transferred to a special O-level class.

Here is our value proposition for IP students who have dropped to O-levels:

1. Specific class structure catered to their needs. A pre-assessment will be done with the student to determine their current readiness level and how to address the missing gaps in knowledge, as well as to timetable their curriculum to prepare them for the O-levels. The typical IP student will skip or do some topics in advance, so these special classes are designed with them in mind such that we can address these needs and successfully prepare them to be an O-level top scorer, keeping in mind what they have covered in their IP years and their specific needs. The class is also designed to be small to build their confidence back up and for them to readily ask questions without judgment.
2. The IP stream usually structures their assessment for practical/lab work in their sciences as a formative assessment instead of a full lab test. However, in the O-levels, the practical component is 15% of the final grade. This leaves IP students underprepared for the O-level practical component, given that they do not have sufficient practice for labwork at all under test conditions, and the lack of exposure will result in them losing significant marks if they are not confident in using their hands. Our centre is specifically designed with labwork in mind, and able to cater to practical mock tests or training at any student count per class. Without discount, each O-level practical is $190. An untrained student needs about 10 sessions per subject. Roughly once a month practical for each subject. As a student enrolled under SL’s theory classes, we offer a generous 50% discount for all practical training in Sciences for the O-level.
3. We have experienced tutors who are familiar handling such students. As a specialized IP and practical centre, we have been catering to such students since the Integrated Programme has started back in the mid 2000s. We provide a safe and positive learning environment for students to train for the O-levels and be back on their feet in no time.

Mr Ilyasa:  An NIE-trained Teacher, Mr Ilyasa has been coaching students in O-Level & IP Chemistry, Physics and Math for more than 12 years. An alumnus of Raffles Institution, Mr Ilyasa holds a a Bachelor of Science degree from the NUS as well as a Master of Education (Curriculum & Teaching) degree from the National Institute of Education. Mr Ilyasa’s thinking and metacognitive approaches to problem solving has helped many students of varying abilities to excel in Math and the Sciences. He has coached students from many different schools and streams, including IP, SAP, and IB.
