PSLE MATH MAR 2015 HOLIDAY INTENSIVE REVISION

The PSLE Math Intensive Revision is a 3-day intensive revision programme conducted during the upcoming March school holidays to prepare P6 pupils for the 2015 PSLE Mathematics Examination.

Level/Subject: P6 MATH

Dates: Mon 16/3, Tue 17/3, and Wed 18/3 (three 3 hr sessions)

Time: Afternoon (2.00 pm – 5.00 pm)

Location: Blk 644, Bukit Batok Central, #01-68. S(650644).

Our location is just a 3-min walk from either the Bukit Batok MRT station or the Bukit Batok Bus Interchange. Target Group & Purpose: P6 students who wish to learn the Storyline-Equation Method to solve challenging PSLE questions FAST and CORRECTLY. Other methods such as Drawing Models, Units Method and Branch Methods will also be covered.

The objectives of the programme are as follows:

Review of problem-solving strategies to conquer Challenging PSLE maths problems involving concepts such as Cascading Remainders, Repeated Identity, Equal Concept, Unchanged Total, Proportions Concept and Constant Difference.
Review and reinforcement of key topics such as Whole Numbers, Decimals, Fractions, Ratio and Percentage.

Focus: CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING

Format: Teaching + Worksheets + Discussions

Fee: $180 (inclusive of materials & refreshments)

Tutor: Mr Ilyasa (M.Ed., PGDE, B.Sc, Ex-MOE Teacher, Full-Time Tutor of PSLE, ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Math since 2004).

Mr Ilyasa has been coaching students in Primary, Secondary & JC Math for more than 10 years. An alumnus of RI and RJC, Mr Ilyasa holds both a Master of Education degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education with Credit from the National Institute of Education, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from the National University of Singapore.

The PSLE Intensive Revision in Mathematics is a 4/5-day intensive revision programme conducted during the upcoming March and June school holidays to prepare P6 pupils for the 2013 PSLE Mathematics Examination.

The objectives of the programme are as follows:

Review of problem-solving strategies to conquer Challenging PSLE maths problems using the Conceptual Approach such as Advance Model Drawing, Remainder Concept (Branching), Repeated Identity, Equal Concept, Unchanged Total, Proportions Concept and Constant Difference. The strategies cuts across the major topics in PSLE such as fractions, ratio, percentage, decimals, measurement and numbers.
Review and the reinforcement of key topics such as Percentage, Ratio, Fractions, Decimals, Algebra, Geometry, Area and Perimeter and Volume.

A former MOE school teacher, Mr Ilyasa has been coaching students in ‘A’ Level (H2/H1) Physics and (H2/H1) Mathematics for more than 7 years, as well as ‘O’ Level Physics, Additional Math, Math and PSLE Math for more than 10 years. THE TUTORS

Mr Chong: Mr Chong graduated from Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School with an impressive PSLE score of 265 (Top 2% nationwide), achieving straight A/A* grades. He went on to Hwa Chong Institution, where he was a Bilingual Triple Science Scholar, before pursuing his studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Faculty of Science. A passionate and dedicated educator, Mr Chong specialises in Mathematics and the Triple Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). Having experienced both the Integrated Programme (IP) and O-Level pathways, he is well-equipped to guide students from either stream with clarity and precision. Known for his tech-savvy teaching style, Mr Chong integrates modern tools and digital learning techniques to make lessons engaging and effective.

Ms Tang: Ms Tang graduated from NTU with a B.Eng in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. She has been teaching students in PSLE Math and Science since 2009. An effective and caring tutor, she uses analogies and diagrams to explain and classify things for easier memorization; identifying and correcting students’ misconceptions and assumptions, understanding what students are confused about, and helping them to see where they have gone wrong. Ms Tang has helped many students achieve their desired results.

Mr Ilyas: An NIE-trained Teacher, Mr Ilyas has been coaching students in O-Level & IP Chemistry, Physics and Math for more than 12 years. An alumnus of Raffles Institution, Mr Ilyas holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the NUS as well as a Master of Education (Curriculum & Teaching) degree from the National Institute of Education.
