PSLE MATH WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS – How to solve Speed, Rate, Area & Perimeter problems

The parents from my first workshop, PSLE MATH WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS & STUDENTS – How to solve difficult problem sums using the Storyline-Equation Method, have asked for another workshop on Labour Day to learn the best methods to solve problems involving Speed, Rate, Area and Perimeter of Triangles, 4-sided figures and Circles. I’m deeply encouraged by their eagerness to learn so that they can help their own children.

Details are as follows.

Date: Friday, 1 May 2015

Time: 9.15 am – 12.15pm

Fee: $60 per participant (if one person registering), $50 per participant for a family of two, $40 per participant for a family of three or more.

MASTERING ALGEBRA March Holiday Workshop

You’ll never begin to be good in Math at the secondary level and beyond until you have mastered THREE fundamental topics: Arithmetic of Negative Numbers, Indices and Algebra. Even students who had obtained A or A* in PSLE Math find themselves doing badly in Math at the upper secondary level if they have not perfected their skills in handling these three topics while in Sec 1 or Sec 2. This course is intended to help such students.

Level/Subject: Secondary Arithmetic, Indices & Algebra

Dates: Mon 16/3, Tue 17/3, and Wed 18/3 (three 3 hr sessions)

Time: 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm

Consolidation workshops are for students who have performed poorly in their SA2 exams or in certain topics in their exams. These classes are intended for students to “consolidate” what they have learnt and re-learn if necessary. Such students are encouraged to attend these lessons before attending Headstart lessons.

THE TUTORS

Mr Chong: Mr Chong graduated from Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School with an impressive PSLE score of 265 (Top 2% nationwide), achieving straight A/A* grades. He went on to Hwa Chong Institution, where he was a Bilingual Triple Science Scholar, before pursuing his studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Faculty of Science. A passionate and dedicated educator, Mr Chong specialises in Mathematics and the Triple Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). Having experienced both the Integrated Programme (IP) and O-Level pathways, he is well-equipped to guide students from either stream with clarity and precision. Known for his tech-savvy teaching style, Mr Chong integrates modern tools and digital learning techniques to make lessons engaging and effective.

Ms Tang: Ms Tang graduated from NTU with a B.Eng in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. She has been teaching students in PSLE Math and Science since 2009. An effective and caring tutor, she uses analogies and diagrams to explain and classify things for easier memorization; identifying and correcting students’ misconceptions and assumptions, understanding what students are confused about, and helping them to see where they have gone wrong. Ms Tang has helped many students achieve their desired results.

Mr Ilyas: An NIE-trained Teacher, Mr Ilyas has been coaching students in O-Level & IP Chemistry, Physics and Math for more than 12 years.
