Should you attend our A.Math DISTINCTION or IMPROVE program?

Attend our A.Math Distinction program if you wish to learn A.Math topics in advance and be given challenging questions to solve. Lots of thinking and questioning in every lesson. You will be exposed to tough questions from top school papers and past year papers. Join this program if you consistently scored B4 or above in your past A.Mathtests and exams, or you are simply passionate about A.Math.

Attend our A.Math Improve program if you wish to revise and even relearn the key A.Math topics and concepts.  Not all A.Math topics are equally challenging or fundamental; some A.Math topics have heavier emphasis in exams, some are conceptually harder and some must be fully understood before others can be mastered. Join this program if you want to learn HOW to study A.Math. Join this program if you had consistently scored C5 or below in your previous A.Math tests and exams, and now you are SERIOUS about improving your A.Math grades.

A MATH O-LEVEL CRASH COURSE

MASTER KEY CONCEPTS IN A-MATHS IN UNDER 24 HOURS

Dear S4 students,

If you had not done well in your A-maths prelims, this is a good opportunity to take action and begin intensive preparation for your O-levels. Our tutors at Singapore Learner have come up with a crash course program that covers all the topics in A-maths with the highest weightage and difficulty, in order to ensure that you get the grade which you deserve.

In our experience, students struggle with topics such as roots of the equation, modulus function, logarithms, trigonometry, differentiation and integration. These issues have to be addressed before the O-levels, and a poor understanding in such topics will result in further negative effects in your JC or polytechnic academic life.

In just under 3 hours per lesson, we will go through the key concepts in important topics, the common pitfalls or misconceptions, as well as popular O-level questions.

Do not miss this golden opportunity and sign up with us now!

Location:   Blk 644, Bukit Batok Central, #01-68. S(650644).

SEC 3 / O LEVEL MATH GRAPHING INTENSIVE RELEARNING & REVISION JUNE 2018

Many Sec3 or Sec4 students lack confidence in graphing/sketching questions. They waste
more than 15 minutes sketching a curve and might still get it wrong. Some students struggle to understand the purpose of such graphs and their applications, finding themselves unable to attempt most of the application questions for graphing.

This course will allow you to master graphing techniques and sketching, and effectively score full marks in this segment in your promotional exams or O-levels. There will be a focus on applications of linear graphs, sketching of quadratic graph (roots of equation, intercepts, min and max points), as well as tangent and normal to the curve.

By the end of this class, the student will learn how to:
-Apply the concept of gradients to solve problems
-Identify common graphing trends, shapes and problems
-Understand the significance of coordinate geometry and linear/quadratic graphs by relating it to
a linear/quadratic equation
-Effectively find variables such as the X and Y intercepts, asymptotes, maximum and minimum
points, as well as tangent to the curve
-Confidently and correctly sketch complex graphs in under 10minutes without supervision
-Use graphing to resolve problems such as simultaneous equations or log scale
-Systematically perform transformation of graphs without error
Our worksheets are selected based on past year questions from a variety of secondary
schools and standard O-level questions. During lessons, we provide tips or question
spotting based on trends observed in different schools.

Duration: 3 weeks, 2h each

Dates: Every Wednesday 6 June. 13 June and 20 June

Time: 430 pm – 630 pm

Location: Blk 644, Bukit Batok Central, #01-68. S(650644).

Format: Teaching + Worksheets + Discussions

Target Group: Sec 3 or Sec 4 students who will be taking the O level Examination in Mathematics.

Note:- Discounted fee for signing up together with another student. Do let us know.

The Tutor:

Mr Pang has been coaching students in Secondary Science and Mathematics for more than 4 years. An alumnus of RVHS who graduated from Electrical Engineering in NUS(B.Eng Hons), he is a caring and effective tutor whose students do very well in tests and exams. Innovative and well spoken, Mr Pang believes in interaction or feedback with students and parents alike in order to achieve their desired results.

What’s new in the new exam syllabus for A. Math?

Express-stream students taking the O-levels in 2o14 for the first time will do A. Math 4047, whereas those repeating their A. Math O-level exam in 2014 will do A. Math 4038. A. Math 4047 is likely to stay around for the next five years.

So what is the difference between A. Math syllabus 4047 and A. Math 4038? The difference is technically not much, but makes a world of difference for students and teachers. Here are the differences:

(1) Students no longer need to know the inverse matrix method of solving simultaneous equations.

(2) Students now need to memorize two new formulae:

(i) a^3 + b^3 = (a+b)(a^2 – ab + b^2)

(ii) a^3 – b^3 = (a-b)(a^2 + ab + b^2)

(3) For Trigonometry, students no longer need to know the Factor Formula or its reverse, the Product Formula. Thank God. (But for JC H2 Math, the Product Formula is useful in the integration of some trigonometric functions)

(4) For Plane Geometry, students no longer need to know the Intercept, Intersecting and Tangent-Secant theorems. Thank God. (Many IP schools skip this topic anyway).

In summary, the new syllabus has less sub-topics than the old one. This is good news for both students and teachers of our content-heavy math curriculum.

Rgds,

Ilyasa (hp: 97860411)
